Be honest with me, engine done for?
Bought a junk car
after a lot of work, got it to start.
Noticed a rattling sound and smoke out the back and I assumed the timing chain and aos. Changed aos and one of the cam tensioners. Was about to change the other but we did a break and did an oil change. Saw this.
New engine time?
Ps - past owner did do an ims bearing upgrade

Just because he did an IMS upgrade doesn't speak to the condition of the engine before the upgrade. Or how he cleaned out any prior debris. Put a bearing in to increase the selling price is a known trick. So is claiming to put in a bearing. A bearing swap in a previously good engine for preventative reasons is fine.
You don't say what the debris is. Iron, copper, plastic?

Did you look at the cam tensioner where guides install. The cam chain had worn through the guide and removed metal from the tensioner it self on mine.
Also for that metal to be in the filter it had to go through the oil pump first. So in my opinion , yes the engine is toast but may be repairable or rebuildable if the engine still rolls over.
