You're righ't it does look better on a black car, but it looks much better than stock on my arctic silver one. I've always hated the stock tail lights and the red and clears weren't worth the cost IMO. The black ones were about half. I have some solid red ones from the same guy, but the back up light section has a pink tint. I haven't seen the third light in black, just clear and smoke. Do you know where I can find it?

How would these look on blk 996 or Arctic silver boxster? Would they look better with outer rim silver?

I have to admit...i'm not very fond of those black tail lights. I just think that the contrast in color helps bring out the lines of the car.
BUT..beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Aren't these just asking for a cop to pull you over?

I always think when I see these is that I don't want to be rearended. I know that you can still see the brake lights, but it is not as bright which could lead to being rearended. It has happened once don't want it to happen again.

I had not thought about getting pulled over. Is there something illegal about them? The brake and tail lights burn red, turn signal yellow and back ups, white. They seem to be visible even in bright sunlight, but I haven't had the car out of the driveway since I put them on. I'll get my wife to drive it and I'll follow her this afternoon. It's a beautiful sunny day in GA, so if they are difficult to see, this would be the best time to find out.

I would think that these are not DOT approved. Since they are not DOT approved they technically cannot be used on a public highway. So in a worse case scenario you get rear-ended and the other driver then claims (honestly or not) that he did not see your brakelights. Having just been rearended in January by a lady who claimed she did not even see my car stopped, I don't think it's worth the risk.

Looks nice though

I think I'll put the solid red ones on and see how they look. They came from same place, Linatec in Germany.

I personally wouldn't give the sharks that patrol 316 any more reasons than they already have to pull me over! There's a whole group of car nuts right near you. You should come join us sometime! PM me if you want details.
