Connect jumper cables to the emergency release in the fuse box. There is a part on what you are meant to do in the manual

I do not know if the 2000's have the jumper in the fuse box. If not then you can supply 12 volts throught the cigarette lighter which will provide you enough power to operate the hood release. There is also a manual release stuck up in the front fender but it is not easy to get to.

A Porsche trickle charger will give you jus tenough power through the cigarette light to let you operate the front trunk. But if you can not get access to one, you can remove the passenger side front wheel well. From there you can reach up to the side of the headlight and there should be (at least one mine) a steal breaded cable that will manually unlatch the hood.

I didn't realize they had taken the front hood release off the newer ones. My 97 had a lever beside the drivers seat. what year did that change?
