Wheel Lugs - what won't get crappy looking?
The lugs on my Boxster are rusty, awful looking things. (I did a search, didn't find anything about this).
I'm told it's a common problem on these wheels. That there is some metalurgic (sp?) reaction between the wheel and the bolt that causes the rusting.
will relpacing them with Stainless steel solve the problem? Or, what do you guys do, besides live with it.
I know, I'm a little **** when it comes to this kind of stuff. I just spent several hours finding the squeaks and rattles, and trying to beat them to death. This is next.
So, buy some stainless lugs from ebay, or another supplier/sponsor here, or is there another solution?
thanks all,
dave

why go stainless? get titanium ones...
while my car was up on jack stands, I took the lugs and brushed off the rust with a wire wheel, then painted and laquered them with Wurth's wheel paint, so they're the same shade as the wheels now
multiple wheel swaps later and they still look great
(make sure you cover the threads before you spray if you do this)

I just cut a slit in a cardboard TP roll, shoved it in the hole and shot silver spray paint in the tube. the tube kept the paint from getting on the rims, and iit looks great now. sure I will have to do it again when tires get replaced, but it is an effortless fix. UNLESS it is a sin to rattle can your car...
