Smile Where can I get a Boxster for ~10k?

I am absolutely positive, that it's time for me to get a '99-01 Boxster with less then 80k miles as daily driver. Somewhere around 10k +/-. I've been reading here and there that guys are getting great deals, but it seems to be I can't find any (DC area) I don't care about salvage title / scratches / small things not working, whole thing should have a straight body and solid drivetrain, that's it. I appreciate any help!

Yeah, I'd have to agree with eBay. Otherwise, keep an eye on Autotrader.com, here on Rennlist or over on Pelican Parts BBS. PCA probably won't help...most of those cars are...er...overpriced. Believe it or not, they don't show up a lot...so you kinda have to be ready. Good luck!

You're probably going to have to travel outside of the DC area in order to find one. You'll have to keep your eye out for it then jump on it. Don't be surprised to shell out for a last minute plane ticket and gas to get it back to D.C. along with the PPI. That'll add in about a $1,000 right there.

P.S. Don't forget the old saying "The cheapest Porsche you buy is the most expensive one you'll ever own."

Agreed. You get what you pay for. And by the sounds of it, your wanting to drive it. Save your money and get a nice one.

yup agreed I tell people over and over again that there is no such thing as a cheap Porsche. Would you buy a House for 30,000 most likely not because you know it will need work(Unless its a investment house and plan on flipping it than its most likey okay)But if you could afford a nicer home and it was your primary house, you probably wounldn't spent 30K on a house.

Same goes for a Porsche or any other car there is a reason someone is selling it for cheap save up a few few more dollars and get a nice 99-01 for around 16K-up

Please don't just jump in and buy the cheapest car you can find. Thats a great way to give yourself and massive headache.

Good luck!

Fixing stuff is a part of fun for me. If something breaks I just build it stronger and better. I want to learn more about Porsche's, as I am pretty much new to them. But I am sure that it will be a lucky day for a cheap Boxster, when I bring it home I only got stranded on a side of the road one time in the last five years, driving ~80 miles a day
Looked at a couple of Boxsters over weekend... not mine...

In today's economy, take a capitalist approach.

The advertised price is the ASK, BID at your desired $10K. I've been watching '60's muscle cars go at 1/2 the ask. You never know how desparate a seller is. Worst case, they say no. I have to imagine even the dealers that take on the trades would be willing to drop form their ask.

For those with the resources, it's a good time. For others, it's tough out there!

Good luck!
