Used Boxster buyer checklist...
I am looking at a 2000 Boxster. I previously have owned 944s/968s. I am very familiar with things you need to check for on that series such as timing belt, water pump and so on. What items would you make sure and target on a Boxster you were looking at?

good job the MY 2000+ Boxsters are the best to get. No need to worry about timing belts as they use serp belts. As far as maintence they work in 15K(Or yearly services) if it has 60K or more make sure the serp belt and the plugs have been done(Part of the 60K service). Other than that I haven't really seen any other major problems other than the typical rear main seal leak but if they have but the new rear main in it with th green band on it(P/N 997-101-212-00) it shouldn't leak anymore.
Good luck

...Porsche dealer PPI ?..well I would rather an independent that you know well. I've seen what dealers do to so called CPO cars, sometimes nothing except say it is certified.
Also, some very catastrophic failures are NOT able to be predicted or detected with PPI. At best brake wear, tire wear, alignment issues and maybe Air/Oil seperator issues can be detected.
Don't mean to be a pill, but dealers just do not instill confidence in me. $$$$$ guide most everything they do.
Find a knowlegeable car guy or a trusted independent shop.

..yes, but just because RMS is leaking isn't the end of the world. Most folks make a mountain out of this mole hill.
You most likely will have a few drops of oil under your car...that's it. You could live with that. You would probably not lose much oil at all.
Best way to handle leaking RMS is to watch seapage and replace it when your clutch gives up the ghost.
Don't panic!!
