Default 2008 boxster tpms

Searching for replacement tpms for my 2008 boxster, I noticed that two models are available. One transmits at 315 MHz and the other at 433 MHz. How do I know which one is correct for my car? Thanks.

IIRC up to and including 2008 433MHz was used. 2009 and newer use 315MHz.

Before you order though you should know for sure.

The frequency might be listed in the owners manual. Worth a look.

You can go online to visit, or call, one of the companies that sell aftermarket OEM sensors and ask what is recommended for your car, too. The aftermarket sensors are rather less expensive than those sourced from the factory. But I do not have any experience with their longevity. While my 2008 Cayman S had TPMS I lost the car to an accident shortly after I bought it.

Thanks so much. I didn't think of checking the manual.

Your local porsche service guy can look it up by VIN. If you pm me your VIN I'll look it up for you when I'm back in the office Tuesday.

To have someone avoid the pain: Both frequencies were used during MY08. Huf, who makes the TPMS for Porsche advised me to test the key fob frequency (I have a TPMS tool that does this) and that would be your frequency. Mine is 315 and I currently have 433 newly installed and my TPMS warning light is on. EVERYWHERE you search, tells you 433 (Tirerack, Amazon, etc.) so this is clearly misleading.

I am currently trying to confirm that my car's TPC is 315 Mhz and not 433. If that is the issue, I'll have some newly used Huf units to sell. 🤦‍♂️

If you have an 08 Boxster you have 433mhz (there is not a 315mhz TPMS for 2008) but more importantly as any old 433mhz sensor won't work you need an RDE001. Only two options. Huf RDE001 (see below) or the dealer for the OE sensor which is an RDE001 just with the Porsche logo AND TAX associated with that.

They changed in 2009 to RDE048 (still 433mhz) but different protocol hence a different TPMS.

Hope that helps.
