I just picked up a CGT this week so I'll chime in. Some of the carbon parts on my car are showing a little bit of yellowing. For example, the inner doors show a bit of a yellow tinge when viewed in same line of sight with the carbon in the floor area of the passenger tub.

My view on this as I think of a bit of yellowing as a patina that develops with age. My car was first delivered in Feb 05. As long as the yellowing is not structural, it really does not bother me.

MSchumacher ( I've heard that name before ).
Does the resin yellow internally IE below the exposed surface ? Is it the Clearcoat or do CF structures not normally use clearcoat ?
The new Corvette Z06 claims to have UV proof clearcoat on their CF engine cowl. Or are they in for a shock as well ?
Many have the impression that CF weakens in the sunlight via the UV rays.
I worked in comercial aviation and all our CF panels were painted so it was never an issue.

Official word from Porsche is that the yellowing CF on the CGT is normal:

Yikes, its a shame they don't stand behind this for you.

No matter who you are or where you are in life, you are only as good as your word, even a constructor as large as Porsche.

That is 100% correct!! I was over at Jerry Seinfeld's yesterday and even his prototype CGT that he has is showing severe yellowing.

I saw the yellowing and didn't mind it, gives it sort of a patina... Don't own a CGT though...

I think the proper thing to do for Porsche is to admit they screwed up in their original statement that the CF does not yellow as clearly it does.
As far as refinishing, repairing, or replacement; that would not be economically feasible. Possibly not desirable as it is no longer "original".
So a onetime reimbursement could be offered for each SN.
Current owner signs, gets check, SN recorded, and no further action.
Subsequent buyers should be aware that the car has yellowed and can either purchase or not.

What prototype are you talking about?
The Pre-Production models or the 2000 Paris Motorshow prototype.
