Default How fast do you wear through tires?

Figured it would be nice to have a database of this given my recent experience. Please copy/paste the format and insert your info. This way we can keep it all neat and easy to read.

Year: 2008
Model: Turbo
Tire: Pirelli P Zero
Size: 295/35/21
Driving style: Interstate
Front: 2/3 left at 6,000 miles
Rear: wear bars showing at 6,000 miles

Pitiful.

6k miles?! Maybe get an alignment done.

These are on an 04 CTT, all 275/45r20
2x sets Michelin pilot sport(all season) about 14k -16k miles each. Very expensive for what they did. Softer ride, but very sturdy feel cornering. Somewhat poor winter driving
2x sets Continental extremecontact dws06(all season) ~25k each. Better tire than the Michelins in every way, except a little more squishy when cornering.
1x Michelin X-ice (winter) more than 15k miles. Left on when sold.
1x Hankook Ventus (summer) more than 20k miles. Went with sold vehicle with decent tread life remaining

summary IMHO, unless you REALLY can't find room to store a dedicated summer/winter set, skip the all season junk.

Fast.

I don't worry about it because it comes with the territory.

Rubberduck, How did you find the Hankook's? Been looking at those to try when the time comes in the near future.

I'm after a softer ride, running on 275/40/20 and it feels like damn runflats... bang bang bang!
UK roads are not great around cities and the suspension struggles to deal with the little stuff like potholes, speed bumps etc. Not sure if it should be like that or its my suspension.

Anyway i'm looking to up the profile to 45's maybe larger, hopefully that will solve my problems (a bit)

In the Midwest US, all I had to do is ask my tire guy to source them. Pretty sure they came from TireRack, and at an excellent price compared to the all-season options I had been running.

Sorry for the confusion, I meant how did you find the tyres on the car? I.e noise level, comfort, stability/grip etc.

Thanks in advance!

Year: 04
Model: Turbo
Tire: Hankook Ventus ST - pseudo all season tire
Size: 275/40R20
Driving style: Interstate
Front: 1/2 tread-life left at 22k miles
Rear: 1/32nd lower than the fronts, about 1/2 the tread life left @ 22k

Opinion: Good tire for the dry/wet, sidewall is a tad soft. Would purchase again given the price point.

Although they are not made for snow, I'll see how they do in light snow this winter.

I'm a big fan of the Yokohama Parada Spec X for my CTT in 275/40-20. They are the poor man's Conti Extreme DWS - - similar performance, but only 1/2 to 2/3 the price. Quiet, comfortable, and very grippy in all conditions I run (sorry, haven't seen snow). The fronts last me ~15k miles and the rears will last 20-25k miles. My driving is mostly aggressive street miles, so the fronts wear first (especially the shoulder tread). I usually buy a new pair for the rear and rotate the old rears to the front.

I liked these tires so much I bought them for my wife's '13 Mercedes GL450. Runs great there too, with less difference in tire wear front to rear - - I guess she takes corners slower and brakes less hard

There is no tread warranty on the Yokos, but with a staggered rim setup I've never benefitted much from a tread warranty anyway. At only $~200/tire installed, it's less an issue.

With PZeros, I get about 25k km out of a set of rears and double that out of the fronts.

Year: 2010
Model: GTS - 3/4" Front 1" Rear lowered via links then re-aligned to OE spec.
Tire: Conti ExtremeContact DWS
Size: 295/35/21
Driving style: Spirited DD and weekend towing
Front: 3/4s tread left at 15,000 miles
Rear: Same.

Rotated front to rear every 5k miles to minimize shoulder wear. Seems to be working out well so far. I also keep about 4 PSI more in them cold than what's listed on the door.

Here ya go:

Year: 04
Model: S
Tire: Michelin Latitude
Size: 285/45R19
Driving style: Interstate
Front: 3/32 left @ 35K miles
Rear: 1/32 left @ 35K (dry rot present in tread blocks)

Previous owner put on a mix of Diamaris and Latitude. (Weird) Surprisingly, the Diamaris on the fronts wore evenly and had plenty of tread left at the end. I don't actually know how many total miles since the tires were on them when we got the car @ 150K miles.

Replaced the set with Conti DWS06 with 275/45-19 about 3K ago. So far so good.

Got an 05 BMW X3 with sport package. Only Pirelli made tires the right size for it. They were Pzero reds, high performance summer tires. A sticker on the inside of the windshield said warning tires will not last over 13,000 miles. and it was being optomistic. Both me and the BMW service advisor got our X3's with sport package the same week and both had to replace the tires due to wear at 12,000 miles. Surprisingly enough the BMW dealership had those tires at less than half the price I could find them anywhere else.

2006 S. 285/35 22’s I got 30,000 out of Yokohama Prada’s. Mind you I tend to drive tires almost to the point of cording. My only complaint was even with good tread they were a little prone to hydroplaning at 75-80mph. I drive around Miami and tow with it on the highway.

I just put on Conti DWS. Curious to see how these do. I love when new tires make a car feel new again. They were a deal on tire rack.
