This gives big inspiration for some of us feeling bold enough to attempt this.

These are such great SUV's that keeping them on the road is desirable.

Plus hey, I like your other Porsches. I have a 944 Turbo Rogue tuned.

Any tips on how your engine cradle was built?

That's an interesting head gasket. Copper? Stock? I would have expected a coated stainless MLS gasket.

One of my favorite cars of all time. Mine has a T04E, old school Link standalone, but went to great lengths to keep it fully stealth.

The "fixture" was not complex at all. A piece of tube steel and some 4x4 clamped to the scissor lift worked flawlessly. The subframe comes out level and clean, using the scissor lift made fine adjustments a little easier, but it was not required. You could easily just block the subframe on tall jack stands and lift the car away.

it is factory, it's a MLS with some sort of a copper coating.

You changed your screen name since last time I was around

We spoke about my build a while back. Brooks Elliot hooked me up on the heads. He did a fantastic job. Thank you for the tips!

Artie in Ohio.

I remember now! Awesome! Glad you were able to use Brooks and I knew you would be happy. I hope you continue to enjoy your Cayenne as much as I am mine. Great work! The 4.8 IS much different than the 4.5and just as I expected, two piece intake cams.

Awesome work! I've wondered what happened with this. Nice 951 as well! Are you a pilot too?

Thank you. Yes, I'm a pilot, but I fly a desk these days. I'm in charge of international compliance, fuel and carbon programs, and new fleet on-boarding for a large biz jet operator, so I spend a lot of time in the back seat these days. I sold my Mooney a few years ago, and have been without an airplane since.

Nice! I sold my 152 years back to help fund the CTT. I'm looking to get back into flying, maybe for the Army before I'm too old. Flight instruction was just not cutting it so I went back into the automotive world..but I'm getting the itch again!

Hello.
I'm currently in the process of removing the engine in my 2008 Cayenne turbo, and I was wondering if anyone can help me figure out how to set/check the timing on it. Is their a link or thread someone can share.
Thank you

The alldatadiy subscription. https://www.alldata.com/diy-us/en will be worth its weight in gold. That said, the timing does require the appropriate tools to check and set. There are no marks to align.

Sweet news. I hope to never have to take my engine out again. It was blocked on jackstands and car lifted off. If I have to do it again I'll use a scissor trans lift and build a cradle like yours. I had to chime in because I just passed my instrument check ride Tuesday.
