Fuel Pump Replacement

Fuel Pump Replacement
After the diagnostic checks suggested by some of you guys on here, I need to replace a fuel pump in the Gemballa and having got to the point of identifying where they are, I'm faced with carpet that goes all the way under the rear seat and is moulded into the boot. Do I have to take the entire rear seat out to get to the fuel tank access? Any clever ideas that don't involve taking the whole car apart appreciated.

There should be a detail writeup in the DIY section.
You will cut a circular piece of the carpet out, and it should be perforated.

Not meant to highjack a thread (but it does anyhow) I've noticed the carpet is very nicely cut out over both fuel pump covers in my own p!G. Don't suppose this is a sign that they were serviced at some point? It -can- be done neatly, and until I read about cutting a portion of the carpet out being the best path forward, I didn't even know it didn't come that way.

Good to know! Between Wheel bearings and fuel pumps I was curious what I'd have to tackle next. The good news is the access plates are just below the carpet.
