Some months back I came across a thread where one of the posters showed a hack where you can take a Dremel and trimmed some of the bracket where the headlight slots into a bracket that holds the headlight wire harness - once you trim that bracket, then you could reach your hand in and press the harness solidly into the light. Can someone please help me find that thread again?! Geez, I think I said bracket too many times ;-)

Why not replace the tray? That should be the solution to any intermittent connection issues.
It's a simple fix, just make sure you get the correct part number.

When you tighten the lever thing that clamps and locks the headlight in place, you should hear a solid and reassuring snap that lets you know it's locked in.
In my case the plastic collar that supports the locking shaft cracked. Hard to describe in words. But even before that, I had issues with intermittent "dipped beam" warning messages because things never locked in properly.
