its scary, but mine (Titanium Edition) pop off when pried with a screwdriver - straight out away from the car.
I have looked everywhere and I can't find those rocker panel drains on my car!

It does just pop off. It's also one of those preventative maintenance things where you should remove both at least once a year and clean out the pocket area behind them. Dirt and sand gets packed in and acts like a sponge holding water. The rust will be hidden behind that little panel until it spreads up and you start seeing rust bubbles on the fender.

As others have said, it just pops on and off with 3 pins. One trick to see how something is attached is to google the part and look at the backside on, say, an eBay listing, then it becomes clear what to do.
Note that this area is prone to rusting out from the inside. The rocker rusts out and then the fender leaving a gaping hole. So if you can wiggle yours, prepare for the worst.
My well used New England '73 911 has less rust than my '10 Cayenne.
