Cayanne new head unit advice
Apologies if this had been asked before. I have just bought a 2009 V8s Cayanne from Sydney and drove it back to Far North QLD. It was a second car ( other is a new Ram) but totally loving thr older Porche!! My only grip is the head unit, I can't hear my calls on thr phone no matter what I do it is way too quiet. My callers say I am not clear too. Also maps are not as updated like my phone, so feeling it needs a modern head unit.
which one do you recommend and I want to keep steering controls.
thanks in advance.
Cheers

Look if there are offerings of Android head unit for your model year. I know there are some great Android choices for 958, that bring it to 21st century and beyond.

The volume thing must be specific to your car - this is not a common problem, or a problem I've seen before here on the forum.
As for a new HU: search. There are dozens of threads on the matter already going into great detail. Good luck!

We just installed a Pioneer headunit https://www.crutchfield.com/p_130DM2...H-2660NEX.html with backup camera in our 2010. Unfortunately our Cayenne had navigation so we had to pay for the proper interface which allowed the components to work: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_142LPP...Interface.html . This interface included a hands free connection but from what I can see so far only the volume and forward/reverse track works, the phone and other buttons don’t seem to work. Audio quality is better and we have wired CarPlay and wireless bluetooth music streaming/phone. There are some headunits that have wireless CarPlay but price jumps up considerably.

I replaced my OEM unit with a Dynavin unit...works well. Also added rear camera...I believe there is a newer version out now but you can google it to see if its something you might be interested. no impact to steering wheel controls...

I have that Dynavin as well. Phone quality is good and you can connect your existing reverse camera to it. If it's the OEM Porsche camera you will probably need a Fakra to RCA adapter.
It's out of production now though and the replacement is not to my liking. Looks too much like a generic Android unit with a giant bezel, but some may like it just fine.

Regarding your call volume, I am not familiar with the PCM 3.0, but most car stereos have a separate volume for phone calls vs regular music. Have you checked in the manual to see if there is a separate volume adjustment? You can also try raising the volume on your phone, if you haven't tried that already.

Will this be ok either iPhone too as that does not seem to work at all?
