Catalyic COnverters are out?
Hi all,
i have a base 2005 cayenne, 3.2L VR6, Check engine lights is coming on and off, smells like fuel outside when idling.
ODB reader came with these codes
0431 Warm up catalyst efficiency below
threshold bank 2
0421 Warm up catalyst efficiency below
threshold bank 1
Would this be the cats are done? Car seems to run fine.
Any suggestions on how i could check and confirm it?
Thanks

Smells like fuel could be the fuel filter is cracked, that is mounted on top of the fuel tank. To get at it it's under the left rear seat bottom. There is a recall or a TSB on this.

Take a look at the plugs, maybe excess fuel is leaking in or being delivered. Leaking in from a fuel injector or pressure regulator, being delivered due to a bad temp sensor or other issue causing the ECU to overfuel.
