Surprise! New NAV CD's...
Just got home from my second SCCA race weekend (that's another story- the S pulled the enclosed 18" aluminum trailer and spec Miata like a breeze) to find a set of three new Nav CD's for the US and Canada updated to 2005 compliments of Porsche. Surprised I didn't have to pay for them- maybe enough people complained eh? Can't wait to try them out.

I received them, and I have never complained. The letter that came with them says:
"Please accept this token of our appreciation and we hope that you will enjoy many hours of pleasurable driving time with your Porsche Cayenne vehicle."

I didn't complain to Porsche- I've just noted to friends that the unit isn't real user friendly compared to some systems in Japanese cars which are totally hands free. Other than some issues with input, etc, it has worked well and saved our a$$ when in unfamiliar territory.

This is great news; hope everyone gets a set. I've done my fair share of complaining here regarding the staleness of data on my CD's, but I do think that the NAV system is excellent. I'll be waiting by the mailbox.

Just got mine, via UPS ground, apparently shipped from PCNA in Columbus Georgia on 4/20.
Totally unexpected.
I had exchanged some emails with Navteq a long while back about missing landmarks (such as my house) but never complained to Porsche that I can remember about this.

I didn't even look at the version number; I just had to run an errand so I installed it. Took maybe 4-5 minutes for the software to update and then the pcm shut itself off.
Errr, was it supposed to do that?

reason I was asking about the version number of the disks... is so I can ask about getting the same
otherwise I'll ask the dealer and end up with the same as I have now !
Dealers are usually clueless about things like this... especially if it's something new

Yep, just got mine via my UPS driver today.
Instead of two CD's we now have three: One for the DC region and above (with bleedover into VA), one for North Carolina and below (with bleedover into VA) and one for West of the Mississippi with bleedover from LA up to MN via Disks 1A and 1B.
As the letter stated, it's part of a campain for 2003-2004 Porsche Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo owners. Perhaps so we arn't bummed about not having the new for '05 DVD data disc system.
The letter goes on to state more detail is now on the new disks and some other enhancements, etc.
All done on Porsche's own accord!
Maybe they are trying...
