Default Service Indicator Reset?

I just bought an ’04 Cayenne S and the previous owner got the oil changed at the dealership right before my friend went and picked it up from him. My buddy is driving it out to me since it’s out of state and he lives right near the seller. Anyways, the dealership forgot to reset the service indicator and the dash says it needs service in 300 miles. Is there a way to manually reset it or does the dealer use a special tool?

Dealership visit, requires the PST2 / PST3 tool.

IIRC, my SA said there was a sequence of button pushes that would reset it and not require the PST2. I thought it was discussed here at some point?

When I asked Peter Smith (PCA Tech Advisor for Cayenne) he said "only with a PST2 or PIWIS". Peter is also shop foreman at Rector Porsche in Burlingame, CA.

Loren,

Do you know can the service reset to zero before the next reminder come on? I am planning to have the dealer to do the oil change but my service reminder hasn't come on yet. Can the dealer still reset it and I don't have to bring back for another 20K miles?

Yes, they can reset it anytime with a PST2 or PIWIS.
