Default Stinky inside, cabin air filter?

My Cayenne has a rotten odor when the AC is operated. Since summer is coming that will be a more frequent occurance. Where is the cabin air filter? Can I change it myself? can I clean it temporarily while I wait for a new filter? Any other ideas besides the cabin air filter? Seems strange to have a musty smell in such a dry climate.

Default Update to Previous Thread

EnigmaWmn pointed you to the thread I had previously started about MY stinky aircon problems.

The thread was useful in pointing out how easy access to the particle filter is.

To address your problem:

1. take it to the dealer and have them use whatever treatment they are used to - also insist they replace the particle filter
2. turn off (as the previous thread suggested - thanks!) the Auto Recirculate button - this seems to have a big impact in reducing any smell by allowing dry air to circulate through the system.
3. repeat 1. if the smell doesn't go away

Hope this helps. Good Luck!
