Default Pictures of Toyo Tires 275/40R20 on Cayenne Turbo

So just like some others on this forum I burned through my stock Diamaris in under 10k miles (and yes I do have a winter 18" set of Dunlops) and needed something with more wear rating. The Toyos are rated at 420 which is perfect. These pictures are from day 1. I now have about 1k miles on them and can't tell you how much I love the ride. I am spoiled though and have the air suspension, so I can play with the feel based on how aggresive I am driving which is just simply amazing !!
I had them installed by Euro Tire in NJ and they balaned both the inside and outside of the rim (something I didn't know existed) and at the same time did a 4-wheel Hunter Laser alignment. I have to say this monster drives better than the first time I drove it off the lot almost 1.5 years ago !! I want to go back and start all over again...no vibration shake etc Guess the fun just keeps getting better !! LOL

I'm trying to decide between the Proxes S/T and the Proxes 4. Will probably go with the former, although the 4's look like they would be great performers in the twisties. Treadwear is less (300 vs. 420), though.

Yeah I think the Proxes S/T are the way to go !! How much are you seeing them for per tire near you? I think mine were $212 per

Default Getting Michelin Latitude HP this week

Lets keep up Tim. I am replacing my Diamaris...now at 9k, with the Latitude HP with a 440 treadwear rating....on my '04 CTT w/ 20's. I'll post pix...not as aggressive a tread pattern...kind of a kinder more all season Diamaris.

Tim,
I'm having a hard time finding pricing on these bad-boys...... Can you share an approximate cost?

Go here-
www.toyo.com/flash.html

They have them in 19" size, I have them and I love them.
They do have a 280 tread wear rating which is odd out of all the cayenne tire sizes from 18 to 20".
I do admit they are much nicer riding then the Conti's and a hell of a lot cheaper. Being that our Turbo has been alligned twice at the dealer for inner tire wear in the front, I think the originals would have lasted 15k.
We only got 10,500 out of them.

Also, I don't think the 19" Toyos are listed on tirerack.

I don't know the longevity of the tires but at 2500 miles they look fine.

Personally, I am still using my original Continental 20's (front 2 were replaced FOC at about 5Kmi because of inside wear -- bad initial alignment specs), and have been very satisfied with them, but I realize that some of you have had problems with them -- particularly vibration and difficulty getting them balanced properly. While sometimes I notice a slight vibration, it's only for a few miles while they warm up; it might be a result of a flat spot when parked because I don't drive this vehicle every day. I do use Pirelli Snow and Ice during the winter, so the Continental's get a rest for half of each year, and get rotated during the switch. BTW, the back ones wear faster than the fronts on my vehicle; I always thought the fronts wore faster because of cornering / steering.

Based upon everything I've read, the Michelin Diameris are the way to go for replacements as most people here like them although some complain about the wear. Benefits discussed here are less vibration, better road force balancing, and a construction of 2 pieces rather than the typical 4. The new ones that have the N1 rating have a wear rating of twice the original N0 ones, so I'm wondering whether some of you may be basing your decisions without taking that into consideration -- were your worn out ones NO or N1? Also, there is no uniform test for wear ratings, so you can't be confident of comparing wear ratings across different manufacturers. BTW, Costco now carries the Diamaris -- you can order on the web and have them delivered to your nearest warehouse. Has anyone done that, and did their balancing machines work satisfactorily?

I got my present Michelins at our Costco. They did a fine job installing them on the rims with no balance problems. I got a nail in one and they fixed it for no charge with a plug and patch as I'd purchased them there. I like the tires but they don't seem to be lasting any longer than the OEM Piirellis...

I have a set of 19" Toyo's on Sport Design rims that were sold on ebay but the buyer flaked out on me. 1000 miles on the tires, 20K miles on the wheels. No road rash and straight and true.

I would like to get $1200 for the set. They will be going back up on ebay soon if there are no takers.

I'll soon be ordering the S/T's , probably toward the end of summer. I've gotten quotes from 185 to 205 installed locally. The 4's are about $20 more/tire.

I was at Discount Tire today taking care of tires for another car and checked pricing on the Toyo's in 275/40/20. I was quoted $200 a corner.
The Diamaris I currently own were quoted at $331 a corner (N1-Spec)

I'll take the extra $520 at the next tire change interval and pocket it.

OK so I made it past 10K on the Dunlops that came with the Pepper ...One day I will order rims and find a sutible tire...I am reading all these posts and threads and see several of you get rims and/or tires mounted/balanced at places like Costco and Discount Tire ...Being a little cautious, I figured the dealership would be best to have the switch made. Anyone have a strong preference on this? Dealer or outsourced to other non- Porsche folks?

Discount is OK. They have road-force balancing which is what really matters. In fact, they have the same mounting and balancing machine my dealer uses.

A few times in the past the dealer has referred me to Discount for routine stuff like flats and balancing.
