Is this an option for getting Sirius onto the MOST ring without getting riped-off by the dealer.

Of course, if you wish, you can also reach over to the glove box, scroll thru some iPod settings/lists.....but, make sure that you do this while you're talking on the phone (extra credit for texting), holding a 1.5 gallon sized cup of hot coffee and writing down notes as you drive.

Yes, no matter where you have mounted/installed/stored the aforementioned iPod (even in a secure location known only to Richard Gere.....(let's see if anyone gets that one), you can control it from the PCM buttons.

Really?

Yes.

Damn, sliced to the left....
You play too much golf friend

Yes, "really". If I can control the pod from the back, why would I mount it in CDC location? Are you saying because of "playlists"? I was under the impression all functions of the pod could be controlled from the PCM. If the only plus is being able to save an extra 15 seconds as opposed to walking back to the CDc location, that seems a bit, uh, lazy to me. I assume that is not what you are saying though.

Funny Gere allusion.

Unless you have an iPhone there is no reason to touch the iPod. Mine is in the glove box, Madfox mounted in the rear. neither of us have had any reason to touch the iPod, all play functions are controlled from the steering wheel and the PCM. As an aside, the random on the mObridge is much better than the random on the iPod.

Maybe I should just tank the entire BOSE D2B system and replace with an iPod / NAV integrated system from the aftermarket. But that would require some very painful rewiring of the sytem (6 door speakers and 2 more pods of drivers - my 500E had a 10 speaker system what a cluster that was to deal with).

No way am I doing the FM modulator solution unless I fall down and suffer a head injury and forget how badly they suck.

I had the Dension Gateway 500 in my 02 CLK with D2B. Worked very well. Much better than the CDC in the trunk that skipped every time you hit a bump. Everything worked right off the steering wheel controls. I didn't have Nav, so the only thing that showed on the radio was the Track number, no tags. Made searching difficult, but I just had it run on random. Sound was as good as you can get on Bose, which is not all that great. Going aftermarket was going to get expensive, considering you had to junk the entire system, as the Bose amp and speakers run on special proprietary ohmage. I had to order my Dension from Belgium. Ended up being right around 600 after exchange rates. Probably kill you now that the dollar is so weak

Incorrect.
BTW, I've never heard of the word "ohmage' before when referring to impedence.

Ok, I made up the word, but you got the picture.

My understanding was that you could not run the Bose amp/speakers with an aftermarket HU, nor could you run the Bose speakers with an aftermarket HU/amp. Guess I was wrong, or got bad advice.

Either way, the Dension Gateway 500 worked very well in my car with D2B, and OEM Bose system, and for 600 was considerably less than the aftermarket alternatives.

Do you know of an aftermarket headunit that has a MOST interface? I do not.

ltc

Am I correct in interpreting your comment that the speakers could be driven with any aftermarket amp if you know where to connect into them or do you mean direct connect to the speakers
