Default Cat Bypass, Exhaust Systems

I'm considering an upgraded exhaust system for improved sound and power on my '04 CS. I'm looking at the $580 fabspeed pipes and the $1452 Remus Sport System. Anyone have thoughts/pros/cons on either? Are they both secondary cat bypass? That is: Is the Remus similar to the fabspeed pipes, just with the muffler and tips? Both have sites: remusexhaustshop.com and fabspeed.com. Remus alleges that the Fabspeed (as well as the DPS MotorSports) pipes will cause the Check Engine light to fire, emission tests will fail, and I'll experience drone and resonance.

Thanks for all your help guys!! There's no dealer in the area & I'm (clearly) not a mechanic.

I'm interested in the same thing for my Cayenne. I've been considering the Fabspeed product, and was about to buy it. I haven't heard anything negative about it as the Remus people claim.

I looked at the Remus website, to find that if I buy their system, it will give me these results:

"Produces High Tone optimal combination of sounds that you can find in high priced sport cars like Porsche and Ferrari. "

Wow, if I buy these my Cayenne will sound like a Porsche!

Gentleman, Fabspeed is your source for Cayenne products. We carry catbypass pipes for all Cayenne models as well as our famed Maxflo mufflers. Our test pipes will not trip the Check Engine Light since these are "secondary catbypass pipes." The 02 sensors are placed above the primary catalytic converters, anything below the primary cats is free and fare game. Maybe the Remus guys were confused between muffler bypass pipes and catbypass pipes considering Remus only offers mufflers. We have not had any reports of the check engine light with any of our Cayenne products. Please feel free to contact Fabspeed directly regarding our products for the Cayenne vehicle.

You may wish to consider Cargraphic muffler. I have the Fabspeed bypass pipes which definitely helped the sound. However, the Cargraphic takes it to a whole new level. If you want a really loud muscular sound it is pretty tough to beat. I have gotten a ton of compliments on the sound since adding the muffler. Before with just the bypass pipes, not many.

I had fabspeed cat bypass pipes only on my 04, and I did not care for the sound, and one side broke. Fabspeed was not willing to replace the broken pipe so I had it welded, but later just took them off.

I put on the Fabspeed pipes and they're great. The sound alone is just phenomenal....and seems much quicker

Other than subjective reports, comparisons, any way to really compare these systems objectively?

Comparisons? My brother thought my truck sounded like a Century Resorter (60's vintage w/ V8) at idle!

If you come by Tacoma let me know and we can compare! I will be heading to Cannon Beach in August with the family and may be able to stop by to do a head to head.
