I had my coolant pipes replaced 13 months ago due to coolant leakage. Just when I thought life was good...Bang......1 month ago my car dropped all of its coolant on the ground.
Investigation revealed that there were two plastic T-pieces in the coolant system at the back of the engine, one of which had cracked.
The cracked T-piece was replaced along with the 2nd T-piece for preventative purposes. (CPO warranty picked up the tab thumbup.gif )
Dealer tells me that they are starting to see an increased number of cars with these T pieces cracking.
Looks like they will be another money spinner for them.
I am not sure if these T pieces are installed on the non turbo Cayennes. They may not be an issue for the normally aspirated.
The part numbers for the plastic T pieces are: 955 106 323 50 and 948 106 035 51.
They are identified as "water hose" in the PET manual.
Get these changed without hesitation if you happen to be doing coolant pipe surgery on your Cayenne.

Ahh yes, I was burned by that little bastard of a T-pipe once. So I replace it every time I do coolant pipes on a turbo.

Jeff, can I kindly ask if the T-pipe is a simple replacement without taking the manifold back off. Hopefully when you say you got "burned" by that T-pipe you weren't referring to taking everything back apart to have it replaced...

Simple replacement... With the intake off and the upper coolant pipes removed, it takes about 1-2 hours to do. It is a bit of a pain in the ***. When we first started seeing the coolant pipes fail a few years ago, I did a job on a turbo and did not do the "T" hose. Ohh about a month later the same car was towed back in, found the plastic "T" had failed. I have seen the same scenario play out a couple of times in the shop. So I always include it in my estimate and give the customer the option to do so, kinda a no brainer if you ask me. But it is a crap shoot,it may fail prior to the pipes, it may fail soon after the pipes are done, it may last the life of the car. The way I look at, it is plastic, it gets hot-cold-hot-cold, its gonna fail at some point. Now the new part is still plastic, but it winds back the clock about 50k miles. So, if you do coolant pipes and do not do the "T" hose, if it fails, at the very minimum, the intake is coming back off, and some other brackets etc.

T-Connector on turbo
Are there any additional hoses to replace when changing the T-Connector. Do the heater hoses connect behind the engine also? I had one shop quote me to do the job from the bottom by taking off the Cat Converter, but from what I've read here it's possible to get at it by taking the manifold off as I would in changing the Coolant tubes. Am I correct? Thanks,

Three Wheelin'
Someone did a writeup where they made some with metal fittings from a plumbing store, but I can't find it now. Anyone do anything like that and have a list of parts? Would like to fix these fittings once and not have to worry about them again.
