Default Weird new noise

I'm getting a funny new noise, originating at the driver's floorboard. It sounds like an air leak. It is constant, but stops when I apply the brake pedal. There's no function/performance problem; just a constant leaking sound, driving me crazy.

Nope. I don't think there's any obstruction of airflow. And the sound seems to be gaining strength. After braking, there is a fairly significant air release sound, followed by the constant 'hissing'. I've had my head down there multiple times but can't find the source of the 'leak'. Frustrating. The noise completely disappears when I'm on the brakes, even if the pedal is only very lightly applied. Foot on brake pedal = silence; foot off = SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Turns out it was the brake booster. True bummer; not an easy or cheap fix.
