Default cayenne turbo torque converter seal question

I see that the torque converter seal on the transmission is a common issue with the cayenne. I have a 2005 Turbo which just had the coolant tubes done and a few other items. I have 76k on the clock now and no warranty. I just called Porsche of Alexandria regarding the trans leak that appeard over the weekend. I was quoted $5800 for the repair. Is this about right? I have done a ton of searches to find out the cost and info on the issue but just keep finding pages on forums stating do a search as it has been covered but I can't find the actual info. Any idea on if the $5800 is high? I need to blance out cost/millage/replacing for a diffrent vehicle however I am coming up with little in the way of a mix of utility and fun that I have found in the turbo. In other words would $5800 be better spent on a cayenne s of the 2008 vintage or a Land Rover LR3 ?

I paid a local private shop $1,000 to do it. FWIW. The part is like $10.
