OEM Radio Question: Need answer quick
So my radio is acting up and my warranty company will replace it for me for another oem....can I take advantage here and upgrade for a small difference?
I have a regular CD/radio, with no nav...like this one:

What would the upgrade be - an OEM PCM/nav radio? I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to do...

The OEM Becker is a piece of crap, I would go - and I went - aftermarket.

I think the next step up in OEM radios would be the PCM 2.1 nav unit. The difference would probably be significant.

Yes from everything I've read you can upgrade to OEM/Nav unit. I believe the difference would be more than a small difference if you were buying it through them under warranty. I've got a 2004 OEM/Nav unit I may be listing on Ebay in the future. If you are interested, let me know. I upgraded my 2004 Cayenne to a 2006 Navigation Unit. It was quite a project involving add the Nav DVD unit. The 2004 unit uses CD's in the main head unit. Let me know if you have other questions.

Unless you're getting the upgrade pretty much free, I'd go with an aftermarket nav if you must have nav in the console, there are plenty of beautiful double-DIN nav units out there that will support Bluetooth, satellite, USB, aux-in, etc. If you don't need nav in the console, put in a $150 aftermarket head unit (which will support Bluetooth, satellite, USB, aux-in, etc.) and get yourself a $50 dashmount GPS and call it a day.
If you have the non-BOSE CDR23, the upgrade will be too easy; something you can do in your driveway in 30 minutes with tools you probably have around your house.

The PCM 2 my car has in it blows as a nav unit, better of with a garmin. It's usable but I sure would not go looking to install one if it did not come with my car.
How is the warranty company handling it? are they just sending a check?

Not trying to sabotage your sale, but from everything I've read, nobody is happy with the 1st gen Nav units any more. They were questionable 5 years ago, now they're hopelessly outdated.
