Question Thermally and Noise-Insulated laminated Glass Option

For those of you who've ordered the option for their 2011 or 2012 Cayenne's provide feedback regarding their satisfaction with this option? Does it significantly reduce heat and noise in the cabin? Also does this glass impact in any way cell phone reception? Thanks for any and all responses.

the glass option does significantly reduce cabin heat. the noise? one would have to do a side by side comparison. what the glass does do is to positively wreck radar detector operation. i haven't noticed any degradation of cellular performance.

Thanks shonuf. The comment regarding the impact of this option on radar detector is consistent with others. Question...I thought the radar detectors only detected signals coming from the front of the car and this option replaces all the glass in car except for the windshield. Is that not the case?

valentine, at least, detects from the front and the rear. i believe that all of the glass is of thermal type.

I hope you read my thread on the w00tMOBILE. I have reviewed most options. One of these days when my schedule allows I'll complete that thread.

have it in our Pano4S: Valentine works without issue. It is quitter than without. I was able to compare test drives with a pano with regular glass.

wootPORSCHE: your thread was the first I'd read that indicated that there may be some impact on radar detector performance. However thus far there appear to be some owners who have not seen any impact.

There appears to be no doubt that from a a noise reduction perspective, this option delivers as advertised. However the impact on radar detector performance seems to be mixed right now. Perhaps the impact varies based upon the radar detector used...although thus far there've been 2 differing opinions on the impact to Valentine units.

Appreciate yours and others responses to my inquiry.

I mount mine between the mirror and headliner. Zero issues I get front, back, and side arrows.

My 04 Corvette ZR1 had a cut out at the bottom center of the windshield for the detector.

If you are using a window mount RD it will decrease the sensitivity of the RD (shorter range)

1994 not 04 and it had a 6"w x 3"h cut out in the metallic coating along the dash. Doues yours have that? Seemed logical.

If you take all windows but the option for the windshield is like doing the job at half no?
You can have radar detectors installed in the car, removable within seconds; as @roberga mentioned, between the mirror and the roof liner for example.
