Round 2 of replacing the rear wiper crank ***'y. Basically, if you live in or near the salt belt, prepare yourself on replacing this part (and possibly the push-button switch) every 7 years. The problem lies with the use of both aluminum and brass components. When exposed to salt spray during winter months, the ***'y essentially becomes a battery and corrosion commences. The switch may still be functional but is sandwiched between one lump of fused corroded aluminum and brass.
This time around, I'll douse this thing with wheel bearing grease but my instincts tell me that the corrosion starts from within where the brass bushing resides. Prices are now double for the parts totaling $275.00....
