Cayenne GTS - 6 Speed Manual Clutch Question
Just wondering if anyone can provide some insight as to what the following may be symptomatic of ? Over the past 3 weeks I have been getting a lot of vibration through the clutch pedal of my 2009 GTS when depressed. It somewhat went away the past couple days and is most apparent at lower speeds. The clutch has not been slipping at all however. I am thinking the clutch and/or flywheel are starting to go. Any idea if this could be something else ? I have 137,000 KM's on my original clutch.

How far off of the floor does the clutch engage? I'm told the closer to the floor, the more life they still have in them. Mine was a little off until I bled the fluid; I suggest starting there. Also, what happens at a near redline 1-2 shift? Mine will actually slip.

Well, got my answer today. My clutch failed and left me stranded. Was out and about with no issue until the the clutch pedal started doing weird things. Tried to limp home but that was about 7 KM's and was not to be. Finally would not engage any gear and the pedal was firm to the floor. I shut it down with the fresh smell of burnt clutch. Called a tow truck and had it flat bedded to a shop. Clutch kit, throw out bearing and rear main seal on order. Will be interesting to see if the flywheel is okay. My aftermarket warranty actually covers the flywheel however.

Got my Cayenne back last week. Total repair bill was $5097.00 !! Fortunately, I have an aftermarket warranty which covered all but $2200 which is what I paid.
My clutch failure was catastrophic. My flywheel separated, throwout bearing disintegrated into multiple pieces. Clutch fork was bent, clutch slave blew and the lines running from the slave to the engine bay cracked at the slave fitting.
I had only owned my GTS for about 5 weeks when this happened. I started getting a strong vibration in the clutch pedal about 2 weeks prior to the failure. Not once did it slip on me however. My technician says the scoring on the flywheel was indicative of a previous owner riding the clutch an awful lot. They cannot figure out why the flywheel separated though.
None the less, glad to have the Cayenne back with a healthy new clutch. For 6 Speed GTS owners, beware of anything different with the way your clutch behaves as mine never slipped before failure. I may have done more damage when I started getting the vibration and continued driving it.
My warranty has already paid for itself after one repair, very grateful I bought it.

Clutch started to slip, so time to replace before it fails,
what do you think about the flywheel? Bunch of hot spots, otherwise pretty smooth, no scoring. No vibration prior the service. So $1500 question I am afraid.

At one time resurfacing the flywheel was a common practice, on US manufactured cars.
Don't know if its done any longer.
Considering the labor costs to gain access I would replace it.

Dual-mass flywheel is not possible to be resurfaced unfortunately.
I just ordered a replacement. PayPal credit is running 0% 24 months financing, good time to spring for a new one. My slave cylinder seems to be leaking little so I will have to replace it as well. Throwing in the master cylinder, clutch bearing and rear main seal. Should be better than I ever had.
