Default Radio off by default on startup?

Hi guys,

Is there a way to make radio off on startup or at least remember the last volume position it was in before switching the car off? I drive most of the time with music off and find it rather annoying that volume goes back up when I start the engine...

Thanks!

If I turn my system off, it stays off until I turn it on. I'd settle for a way to turn off the radio/CD while using using the GPS without going thru layers of commands to get to the "mute" setting; with which you also lose the nav voice directions. More PCM genius.

Have you tried messing with the autopilot settings?

Are you doing just a quick **** push or are you holding the **** for apx 2 sec. when you turn it off? The quick push just mutes it until you push it again or on startup, if you hold the button it turns the system off.

I don't want to turn off the whole PCM off. I guess I should rephrase - can I have screen on, but volume off on startup?

Just put Media on AUX or DISC and not on the radio. Then all is quiet when you get in the car unless you have a disk in the player or something in the AUX port. Mercedes works the same way.

Great solution, that would also work when you want to use the Nav system and not listen to music too. Thanks.

Unfortunately solution above does not work. After you park the car for a while and come back, it will automatically switch over to radio if you don't have CD in. I don't have AUX, so not sure it would save that option.

Another alternative, for those with USB input, is to get a "silent" MP3 and play it on repeat. Same idea could be done for a CD (create a blank CD that is on repeat).

Do you have entry and drive? Seems to me some of these "comfort" settings are remembered and go back to those settings depending on which key fob you use. Hate to say RTFM, but I don't recall at the moment how to set new comfort defaults. Perhaps holding the seat memory button 30+ seconds?
My 04 did the same, including resetting blower position and fan speed. VERY annoying, especially in those MN days when you need AC in the afternoon and heat in the morning!

The NAV Voice volume is separate from the radio volume. Turn the radio volume down, go into the NAV settings and set the NAV volume to whatever volume is comfortable.
