The $20k Cayenne Search Commences

Agreed - my hope is to find an S with base audio - also a rarity. I've seen both of the listings you sent, between Autotrader, Cars.com, Craigslist there are about 9 cayennes for sale in Portland and another 15 in Seattle. So far nothing really grabs me though I do like the idea of getting into an '08 or '09 but that would most likely be in a V6. This weekend I am going to talk to several dealers and see if anyone wants to deal.
I basically said my best price is this, are you willing to work with me. I was not "low balling" anyone, as prices were anywhere from 20k to 30k at that time for asking prices. I had a bunch say sorry, I few swear at me and tell me to you no what off "never get why people are offended" and a few say lets talk.
I think the ones that end up at auction, the smart people don't bid on them and the Joe's Quality Auto guys that deal in the low end stuff say oooh, porsche, I can buy it cheap for 15k and ask 35k for it.
They don't do their research on market value till after the fact.

44k for an '06 Turbo S that's insane
I just picked up an '06 Turbo S with some Techart tuning for $20k CAD which is around $18k US. It is higher mileage but well maintained and it wasn't advertised. I got it through a dealer selling it on behalf of a client, it may be worth calling a few dealers with your requirements and see if they know of anything.

I've been looking at this for a couple of days. Unfortunately, I'm not yet ready to dive into the market, although DD has given her blessing. Seems like a good car at a fair price. This is nowhere near Portland, though.

I'd be interested in people's opinions, either in this thread, or privately. Good luck, drewcwsj! I'll be watching to see what you end up with!

If your plan is to replace speakers and amp the the Bose/most doesn't matter anyway.
The ONLY complication the Bose/Most has is when people want to replace the head unit and keep the Bose speakers and amp. Then you need the "most HUR" setup.

This is a bit out of the way for you, but a dealer nearby has this car:

85k, no Bose and they had it for at least last couple of months - I bet they would be willing to negotiate. I'm not sure about the maintenance, I bought my 08S back around November there and this Cayenne was already there; looked fine from outside at a quick glance, but I wasn't shopping for it so did not check it out.

It's not the Bose audio that will kill you, it's the MOST system. I believe that if you any front end other than the base Becker CDR-23, you have MOST.
That's the Becker head unit. Probably a nice plain, vanilla audio in there.
OP: If you do get a Becker unit, I'll take it when you rip it out. That have the perfect vintage look I want in my '82 928.

My plan is to just start with a head unit swap and then go from there if I'm not happy with the sound. Doing the swap only gives me an easy path back to stock when I sell eventually.
