What do you know about early Cayennes?
Since this is one of the most active and knowledgeable forums on RF, and because I know several of you own Sharks and P!gs, how about taking a quick look at my thread on the Cayenne forum, where I'm trying to figure out a problem with my '05 V6.

Missing two cylinders??
Sorry, that's not helpful... We recently bought a '05 CTT but haven't dug into it much. Yours does sound like fuel pump or filter, however.
Just slap a pressure gauge on the passenger-side fuel rail, jumper the pump relay, and ... never mind.
I do love the "take it to the dealer" comments over there, however.

Burning Brakes
All I know is that I'd love a turbo version and have considered many. I can live with changing out the plastic coolant tubes or a drive shaft bearing.
What scares the hell out of me is that Google auto completes "piston slap", "piston knock" and "scored cylinder".

I got a notice to participate in the suit. Had to file by Dec 13th 2013, of course mail didn't arrive until Dec 14th...
And I have already replaced the cooling pipes and coil/plugs. But I will say it's very good at towing at car on a trailer.

best engineered yada yada yada
Hm...actually this was a GTS IIRC...but it might've been the non-GTS getting flogged. All I know is the GTS sounded pretty righteous for the few moments the owner nailed it...but on the playground all variants were all waddle.

I have the Touareg , already did the center bearing (what were they thinking ?? ) under 100,000 miles. Tire press sensors inop...fortunately the 2004 you can turn off the warning. Now airbags are off wiring in the seat is common issue. And that V-6 has piston slap. The mirror control switch which broke is a couple hundred to buy...The wooden interior trim has numerous cracks..
Plus the thing gets very poor MPG. I really am getting ready to wholesale it so it just goes away while it at least has SOME value...my wife is driving my old 2002 Passat instead.

Sean,
Serves you right for not buying a Turbo S! --
Good luck with solving the problem- the V6 has a good reliability reputation so probably nothing too severe.

We sell a lot of parts for Cayenne's - not quite competing with 928 parts but a lot of cooling pipe kits 8>)

I do love the "take it to the dealer" comments over there, however.
I enjoyed your comment too,LOL.
I'm not one to shy away from getting my hands a little greasy.
But this is the really the wise advice to save Shawn time and money.
Modern cars are way too complex to start down the parts replacing path based on advice from people 2000 miles away.
Best to plug the car in. This is how modern Mechanics repair cars today, because you have to.
I owned a Cayenne S for 5 years, Re coolant pipes:
You will know your plastic coolant pipes have failed or are about to fail it coolant is dripping from inside the bell housing.
It puddles in the V and finds it's way in there.
(I did my coolant pipe job myself BTW in 7 hours, A Cayenne tech told me they allow/bill 9 hours for it)
Note: Shawn, Auto Atlanta sold me the replacement aluminum coolant pipe replacement kit for $550 which is very cheap.
but when i had problems like this (only once) i took it to the dealer for diagnosis. They work on these cars every day.
