2006 Tit.S need updated GPS DVDs? NavTeq gone?
Was lost but now am found.
Was Blind but now I see...
Wait the Nav is 8 years old...
Is the Bar open?
Can I drive?
Is purple still the forum's favorite color?
Who is dead to me?
Who is still alive of the old timers?
LTC? Mudman2? Enigmawmn? Rome? SKL? BostonDMD? Koozer
Alex911S? JFScheck? BladeMD, Shamus?
Can you help a brother out?
Is the nav updateable?
What is the cost?

It says on the Suncoast parts listing that this will only work with the "B" software. How does one determine which version of the software one has? What's involved in updating the software?

I have the same question but even if available I'm not sure it is worth $300. For most locations that I need to go to - the current nav data still can get me there. only issue is newer subdivisions so I've decided not to make new friends that don't live on streets at least 8 years old. Of course that's if I even wanted to visit them to begin with....

The map update software comes with the necessary firmware update to install if your nav unit needs it. The update isn't inexpensive, but in my case, it was nice to have 2013 maps instead of 2006 maps. Updating seemed like a no-brainer decision.

My thoughts exactly! I was briefly tempted but decided against it. I often use the iPhone for in-town destinations and primarily use the Nav for out of town trips, where the old map data still works just fine. Plus, it is time to trade in the old Cayenne anyway so I'm reluctant to invest more money in it than I absolutely have to.

It's funny how $300 seems too high a price for the upgrade when a stand-alone Garmin is only a little more. I didn't even buy the original upgrade CDs, so I'm on 10-year-old maps... and my entire city is non-existent save one road. My iPhone has better Nav capabilities.
That said, the lack of current maps and the lack of iPhone/iPod integration have always been huge detractors to me while in my CTT. There are so many elaborate and amazing aspects of the vehicle as, well, a vehicle. But I live in the car an hour or two a day - and it's missing basic parts of that experience that the cheapest Ford rental car has. I find myself resorting to $200 Audio-Technica headphones and my iPhone's Nav.
To get my playlists streaming over my (already expensive) Bose system, do I really have to spend $1k -$2k for an integrated solution? Sounds expensive right? Yet I have $30k in upgraded turbos and air suspension and brakes leather-cladding over an S. To the point that I've considered dropping in an iPad instead of my PCM.
Such a paradox...

I am in the same situation and the best value for the money seems to be:

I am planning to install when back in town in couple of weeks.
