I bet, but since it never lost a drop and still had smooth power there was never a need to take a look

Engine's can run smooth with low compression/higher than average leak down numbers (all cylinders being within 5-10% of each other).

Seems silly to risk potential engine damage on such an expensive engine to save an extra $100 though. To each there own. Glad it has worked out for you.

I also was at 130+k km on recommended, for my region, 20k km Mobil 1 0w40 changes with zero issues. There are are around 300,000 V8 Cayennes at large, with a considerable number over 200k miles, with not so many on enthusiast internet forums. I reckon the vast majority will be happily running on Porsche service schedules and Mobil 1.

Remember that the majority of US are here because we have had issues with our cars, but we have are not the majority.

Also remember that even Mobil 1 has a warranty; if you can prove that damage was caused to your engine by the oil whilst following the manufacturer's oil change schedule, Mobil will replace the damaged parts.

Good luck with proving it though.

I use 10k (km's) about 6700 miles on my Treg (audi 4.2 engine) only because it is easy to remember as I do it on the 1000's mark on the odometer. It can probably go to 15 without issue, as it is really clean when I change it (dark but still translucent). Mobil 1 or Castrol synthetic depending on price at the time. YMMV.

Yea, but there is a big difference between 20K miles and 20K Km on an oil change. Remember that oil starts to breakdown at a exponential rate when the additive package starts to go (per Blackstone labs).

+1. It's the cost of an extra two tanks of gas every few months. Every time I see my shiny black 955 coated with our fine red AZ dust, I know some of it makes it into the engine.

I have an 08 CTT. In the owners manual they changed the interval to 12,000 miles. My car has been serviced per the book and very little issues so far at 105K miles. She does not burn any oil for first 5000 miles after change and then a quart every several thousand miles. I would not go any longer than a year or 12,000 miles.

Porsche and a number of other manufacturers including GM noted that DFI caused fuel dilution of the oil. Porsche reduced V8 oil change intervals from 20,000 miles to 12,000 miles with the introduction of DFI in 2008 and reduced it further to 10,000 miles in 2009.
