clear bra or no?
Are the 08 CGTS as prone to rock chips as other cars? The paint is in very good condition and I would like to keep it that way. I was planning a full nose and side mirror wrap.

When I bought my 06 with 65K miles, it had a chip free nose. I debated a clear bra but decided against it since the truck must have durable paint to survive 65K without a chip. Well, the paint may be good, but in 10K miles I've picked up a few chips and I cry a little every time I see new one. So the roads you drive and what you've seen with your other vehicles on those roads, is what I suggest you consider. My roads obviously have more debris than the previous owner used. In hind sight, I wish I'd bitten the bullet and done it.

I didnt think about the rockers or rear bumper, maybe I will add them too. What is the deal with windshields? Does it just protect against pitting or will it help resist chips and stone cracks?

I put ClearPlex protective film on my 991 windshield, and I know it has save me from some serious windshield damage. Think of putting it on my cayenne as well I think it is $225, includes an installation kit.

I’m probably by myself with this opinion; but adding a clear bra to a beautiful Porsche just doesn't seem right. Kind of like adding a clear plastic cover to your sofa, or like wearing a condom during sex? Most cars I've seen with bra's (here in the Bay Area), you still see all the chips and marks… they're just on the bra, so what’s the point? Unless you will change out the bra all the time, or you’re driving routine includes winters and sanded roads, then I can maybe see it.

I don't like the lines the clear bra has and didn't get it on our Cayenne.
120,000 km, and very few chips. The worst one is actually on the driver's door. Which wouldn't have had any protection anyway.

I live in NH so lots of road sand and rocks. This will be my year round daily driver. Im planning on wrapping the entire nose so there shouldnt be any lines, they annoy me too.

We got a rock chip on Euro Delivery--somewhere in our travels. I first noticed it when I was washing it in Salzburg. I did the best I possibly could to not let it fill me with a flood of anxiety and ruin the rest of my driving experience.
When I got it back here in the US and saw it again, the anxiety returned. The dealer touched it up, but from there I decided a clear bra was in order. I just feel better that it is on there, and on the white Cayenne, you don't see it at all.
