Default first time porsche owner, time for new brakes

Hey everyone! i recently just bought my first porsche, it is an 08 cayenne turbo. It is now due for the front brake to be done and after reading on hear how much the dealer charges, ive decided to do this myself. I have a few questions though and was looking for some help. I have the 14.49 inch rotors which comes out to about 368 mm. All i've read on here is about the 330mm and the 350mm rotors. Ive done searches to look for mine to find them and haven't really found any, or m unsure if they are the right ones. Does anyone know where to find these rotors? Also, ive noticed in the DIYs that everyon has what looks like a large punch sticking out of the rotor. What is this and is it needed, if so where can i get it?

thanks guys!

I also have an 08 Turbo. 368 mm's in the front, 350 mm's in the rear. I needed rotors, pads and sensors front and rear. I priced some places for all the parts delivered, and some places were around $950 for everything delivered...those rotors weigh a ton! I ended up paying my local indy $1,200 cash, out the door, for complete front and back set up. Yes, I could have done it myself, but for a couple hundred bucks, I left it to my guy, who buy the way cleaned the red calipers like new. Shop around, places like ECS Tuning has the jumbo rotors and they're a one stop shop. You also have to decide what pads you'd prefer. BTW, my dealer quoted me $2,700 for a complete brake job...yikes!

Can you take a picture of your brakes, it you have the PCCB upgrade, I would love to see them. Porsche parts just for rotors are $6800, aftermarket $1200

As well as ECS, give a call to suncoast porsche 877-923-1700, sunset porsche 800-346-0182 and sonnen porsche 800-781-5741. They all have good prices. Get the parts from whoever makes the most sense for shipping. I have been using Andraya at Sunset. Great parts person.

From not seeing the DIY, I think the punch is the stick for aligning the wheel to the rotor when you put on your wheels. Look in your tool kit.

Edit: Just looked. Yep that is what it is.

I would buy Porsche parts unless you can find a great ceramic or other alternate. They are about $1200. I paid an Indy about $1800 all in to do the job. I asked him per Porsche recommendations to replace the hardware as well. Porsche wanted about $2800 for complete job.

I don't have the invoice in front of me and but can tell you that the dealer was asking about $3,000 for the entire front and rear setup.

buckeyecayenne, I'm assuming Ohio from the username but it does help to post your location in your Signature line. On big items there may be places closer to you that can save on shipping. Congrats on the Cayenne and the DIY for the brakes is pretty easy, just take your time and buy a couple of cans of the non-chlorinated spray brake cleaner and clean things up well and you will be doing more attention to detail than most dealers do.

thanks, still gotta update my profile but ya im located in columbus. Although the book says the turbo came with the 14.49" rotors, my sticker says the fronts are 13.8" rotors...is there a way to tell from the vin or am i just going to have to go measure them?

Best thing to do is measure them so that you know there won't be an issue.

Congrats on the Cayenne. I'm also in central Ohio, and my wife's DD is an 08 Turbo. Maybe we will see you out and about. Let me know if you ever need any help, always happy to lend a hand. Been turning wrenches on P cars for a long time now

...and you are correct on the size. The 08's had the "odd" 368mm fronts, unless it was a power kit car.
