I fully agree on fluids change.
I just did the transmission fluid change on my Boxster, at 63k miles. I'm not sure at what mileage this s recommended by the factory, but in the case of the Boxster, I was thinking "preventive", as, with this car, ..I'm is more often on tracks, ..than driving safely on open roads ! (the PSS9 makes a fabulous feeling on track, but on open roads, you do feel any cigarette butt, ..in you own butt !)

I've never used Kelly and now I'm thinking I never will.

Kelley is very high. NADA puts it in the $18k-$19k range, which I think is a little optimistic as well.

Kbb places retail value at the asking prices by dealers, not the sale price. Nada uses sale price data (so they claim). Private party value on that car is probably about $13,000.

On the west coast that's 13-14k car. The dealer is being insulting.

Even if it is a $13k car, the dealer has to make money from it. If he pays $8k for a $13k car, when all is said and done he'll be lucky to clear a couple thousand on it.

The dealer doesn't need another tired Cayenne on his lot, and he doesn't need incentives to sell new ones. He's just offering you a few thousand to save you the hassle of selling it yourself.

Whatever there is profit on the front and the back. A dealer is gonna list that car at 18-19k. If he is buying a new car there is profit there as well. If a dealer low ***** me it destroys my trust. I wouldn't call 8k a fair offer under the circumstances. Maybe for a 2004.

You could always play the game and counter his $8k trade-in with an offer for his new car that's about $5k less than what he wants...

It is a bit insulting, and you will do much better with a private party sale.

For what its worth, I've been getting trade in offers on my 08 GTS with 120k in the 17-20k range.

The porsche dealership had offered 13k.

It's been 1 year, but I sold my 2005 S New England Car, no real issues with 114k or so on the clock for $12500.

Thanks for all the posts, it is very interesting.
In my side, I felt that the offer was chocking, as, being close to "peanuts" !
If the sales manager of this dealership would have had what I would call "a minimum of class", I think, he would have said instead, (politely) that they do not have any market for a car with such mileage, and simply recommend me to go to a private sale. ..But, this only express my opinion.

IMO, a more commercially correct version would have been to offer an higher number for my car, but than, give no discount on the 80k car that I was on the way to get !
But, with his answer, in less than a minute later, I was with my wife, back in our car, with a feeling, ..that I will not express here, ..simply because, it would be out of the topic.
(subject is : is 8k as trade-in value for such a car being a "normal value" !)
So, by his “low ball” offer, he did cut all possible discussions, which from my view, I did not consider that it was a clever approach from him !

I want to say that another thing disturbed me : Porsche, has a (very great) program called CPO. By the way, our Cayenne was CPO'ed (when the first lease was out, and before re-leasing it), and for example the coolant pipes, the half shaft, were both taken under CPO. We had also some other minor problem, ..that were also fully covered by CPO, including an EXCELLENT roadside assistance.

Such program give you a 6 years or 100'000 miles factory warranty, that is EXTREMELY GOOD AND EFFICIENT. I would say : Kudos, big time, to Porsche to have such program. I would say, as a manufacturer, you have to have guts, and be sure of the quality of your product to offer such great warranty.
This being said, yes, life with a Porsche car is beautiful up to 100k miles, but, then, depending were you go to get another one... after 100k miles, the value drop to "peanuts" !
In my opinion, it is kind of message that I perceive as ambiguous : i.e.: good value to 100k, but after 100k, ciao bello !

By the way,
Just to be a little “visual” about the “8k animal”, here is how it looks, and how it was seen by the Sales Manager of the Porsche dealer of the area, i.e.: photos of yesterday:
(No dings, airbag never deployed, interior and exterior in great shape, clean title, always garaged, no pet, no smoking ! ....

This example is why many of us sell our cars for a reasonable price and buy the next one from far away dealers who need the internet sales.

BTW, your CS is gorgeous and will find a loving buyer if you follow my advice. Blow off that dealer!

Looks much better than $8000. I think the sales manager was seeing a nice double ender and instead of being smart, blew the sale.
