Default Spring Inside of Oil Filter Cap?

I am looking at the Porsche doc 'WM 170117' for changing the oil. In the picture with the oil filter and the housing it shows a spring to push the filter up in the bottom of the engine. I have no such spring. Should there be one?

there is a separate picture with a different filter that looks more like mine without a spring. that filter has a nipple on the top that more closely matches mine. but the manual doesn't specificy that the one image is for one model of cayenne.

Greetings. Unless I missed it somewhere, you didn’t define what “mine” is? If you give your specific year/model, some good folks here might be able to assist you.

This is a vr6. There is no spring. The thing that looks like a spring is plastic and part of the filter housing.
