2014 CD with overfill warning after dealer service
Picked it up from the dealer and it was showing full to the max, but still "green" and the next day, it was giving an overfill warning, but does not indicate it is unsafe etc. Has been about 5 days now, and still showing overfill, after about 300km of driving.
question for the group is...should i drain some oil? Or just let it burn down to 'full' over time. This car doesn't use a lot of oil, so it may take some time, but i am concerned that leaving it may cause other issues.
Thoughts?
(i'd normally just go to the dealer and have this handled, but its a bit of a drive, coupled with a nuisance and a burden to do so)

I'll agree, it is not all that much fun when I have to put the truck on the stacked 3-high 2x10's ramps I made, then drilling off all the 10mm bolts holding the undertrays, then taking the bolt off the oil drain only to get messy when putting it back in after letting some oil drain but this is the ONLY way out short of going back to the dealer or having some local (read-questionable) place do it for you.

Three Wheelin'
I just have to raise the suspension to off-road 2, lock it in place and crawl under with no ramps. Then with a fumoto drain valve its super easy to drain. The undertray is a little bit of an inconvenience though.

Motor oil expands when hot. It is very dangerous to drive it not knowing how much the tech overfilled it. If only slightly overfilled, easiest way to sort it out is to replace the oil filter.
My experience is typically that a dry oil filter sucks up one bar on your display screen. Keep the current "new" filter in a clean/ziplock bag to reuse when the next oil change comes.

At one dealer it took three tries to get the oil level correct on our '13 CD. On the third attempt I asked if they had the Porsche special tool - a dip stick - to actually measure the level. They did not but went to the next door Audi dealer to borrow theirs. As dealers fill oil from bulk would think they would have had one.
So much for the assumption that dealers have the Porsche special tools!
I now change my own oil - most onerous part is to R&R the metal skid Plate.

That's what they're supposed to do. Do they all actually do that?? Who knows, but I'm guessing not all of them. But whaddya expect for a cheap $400 dealer oil change?!

The measuring system he has ever used is this. What's your expectation out of him?

Also FWIW there is no oil level measurement routine in the tester for diesel engines. Its factory tool adjustable dipstick (T40178A) or the instrument cluster.

thanks to all for the advice on this. Quick question, given that there is no dipstick on these cars, where is the location of the capped off dipstick shaft? I presume that this would be the only location to suction any oil out of the engine, but not clear where i would find this on the engine.
thanks again.
thanks again.

Remove the engine cover....
its right here I’m pointing at it in the picture. It’s pretty small, my suction pump hose would be too big to fit down it. If that’s the case just feed it down the oil fill port and pull some out.
