"New" Porsche decision help!?
I am about to buy new Porsche soon, so some advice could come in handy. I am thinking between Porsche Cayenne Turbo S 2014 and Panamera Turbo S 2014 with all the options checked.
It means to me also If you tell me why bellow. And also some potential problems for particular car.
Thanks

Do you want an SUV or a sedan? Do you want to tow, have larger cargo capacity, higher seating position and off road capability or do you want better driving characteristics and a more spacious interior for the passengers?

As you can see I already have Cayenne Turbo S 2008. I don't tow at all (even though I have Porsche electric tow bar), I have been driving SUV's for 8 year in a row now, so I think about switching to Panamera and I know what I am loosing, but also what I am getting with Panamera... So I don't know what next...

It would require one of us to own a Panamera to really answer that question. I guess if you want a discrete expensive car for old rich guys a used Panny would fit the bill. It fits less, handles about the same, goes about the same and costs about the same as a Cayenne.

Keep the one you have. Better Cayenne generation than what you're considering.
As much as I've tried, I can't warm up to the looks of the original or redesigned Panamera - they should've made the new one look like the Taycan.

Cayenne. Ground clearance for more potholed roads, gravel, dirt/mud, water, and snow. Height of seats when getting in and out is easier, adjustable air suspension helps.

Stefan, I was thinking (always dangerous..) this thread might get more responses if it was over in the 958 subforum, since that's what you're considering besides the Panny.. and quite a few of us over there have gone from 955/957 --> 958
Let me know if you want me to move it.

Why do you think 957 is better then 958? For some parts I know why but for most of the time I am not sure. Also, I kinda like the look of 2014 Panamera (Redesign).

Thanks for the opinion. I don't use it Off-Road that much. Not a big deal if I loose that capability. But for sure, better. Hmmmmm, this is tough.

Then you have the real offroad, low-range transfer case of the 957 which they did away with on the 958, since having it was expensive, and many of the Cayennes were being used by soccer Moms and people that never took them off-road. The 958 also has transfer case issues requiring frequent fluid changes, and if those are missed, complete replacement of the TC.
I also like the interior design of the 957 in that it's purposeful, but not overly fancy. It's of similar design and feel to that in my 997.1. The newer cars have too much interior bling, too many electronic features, and too many screens - I want the controls I need for driving and not a lot of superfluous stuff. Some of the newer Cayennes also have the auto start-stop function that cannot be disabled with a button (don't know if the 2014 is in this group or only the newer ones).
I didn't buy my Cayenne TTS until 2016, so could've chosen any model from that date back and knew I specifically wanted an 09 TTS for the reasons mentioned above.

Sooo, you don't tow or go off-road... Panamera all day long.
