Default 40K mile maintenance cost vary.

I Have a 2017 Cayenne S that I needed to do the 40K mile maintenance so I called the Porsche Dealer closest to me.
The SA began to tell me what the service consists of and then the cost, which was $2200! Needless to say I was not
very happy about this so I called another Porsche dealer half hour further away. I asked their SA the same question
and he quotes me $1100 for the same exact service. Anybody else seen this type of discrepancy from dealer to dealer?

The 30k maintenance on my 2016 GTS was $900 which included plugs. Both seem high for 40k. What is being done?

I was quoted similar for the 40k service on my cayenne as well. Dealer was around $2100, a local "porsche specialist" was $1300, but I ended up going to my local independent european shop (less fancy, no free coffee like the dealer ) and it was done for $600. All the $40k miles service includes besides the "checks" for everything is an oil change, air filter, cabin filter, spark plug replacement. That's it as far as I know.

You can do it yourself. Why put you car in the hands of some company that really doesn't care. They really don't!

I wouldn’t put my car in the hands of a mechanic that “doesn’t care.” I know and trust the Indy mechanic that works on my cars. Of course anyone can research how to do the maintenance and do it at home, but some of us have time that’s way more valuable that whatever an Indy mechanic might charge.

To the OP, I think if you found someone trustworthy to do it <$1k, you should be good. These services are money makers for the dealers.

Why not just ask for the plugs to be changed? That’s really all it is, unless you are up for oil and filters too. I find that dealers don’t actually check anything. It would take much longer to actually check everything listed than I see them actually doing.

My Lexus was checked and brake pads showed to have more than 50%. A month later, I was close to metal on metal. After that, I do my own checks and just ask for work that I don’t feel like doing.

$2200? That sounds way too high. The 17 cayenne S with the v6 bi turbo engine is scheduled for spark plugs at 30k, not 40k. It sounds like they may have quoted you the 40k for the older v8 engine cayenne s which would have included spark plugs.

Change everything but the oil yourself DIY, then let them change the oil and reset the minder.

they likely included a brake flush in your quote at 40k as well. despite the vehicle age, the dealer seems to think everyone drives 10k miles per year so they would just say you are due for your 40k/4yr maintenance which would include a brake flush.

According to my invoice the 40K service also included a 4 wheel alignment , an Oil Change, wiper blades replaced, multi point inspection,
cleaned the cowl and sunroof drains. Total bill was $1073.00.

On a side note, how involved are the plugs on the 958.1 V8? There was a service done at a dealer at 40k mi but I don't have the detail. If it's pretty straightforward, I'll just change them for peace of mind. Done it many times on other cars, just haven't looked into the Cayenne yet.

This is insanity. Order your own OEM parts and take it to a good euro car shop. And I am in chicago. Out of all dealers - Motowerks gouges the most. The rest of the line up seem to be on par with each other on parts and labor rates.

You guessed which dealer that was from. I've bought from Napleton and serviced at Loeber, Motor Werks, and the Exchange. I've had the best experience with Motor Werks Porsche and the absolute worst experience with the Exchange. I did my 30k service at MBS Automotive in Northbrook for $180. I didn't do the spark plugs and I just passed 34k miles.

Motor Werks tried to blame MBS for supposedly not cleaning out one of the "evap drain[s]" causing water to pool in the front passenger footwell. I'm not sure that I buy this. They cleaned it all up under warranty, and my SA admitted that she didn't know whether other dealerships cleaned it out either—but Motor Werks most definitely does.

I generally feel uncomfortable with dealer maintenance. Repairs are a bit of a different story, especially under warranty. Where do you go?

This is my first Porsche. Long time Bmw owner.

So far, I have used Loeber for some minor repairs and 80k service which was not paid out of my pocket. They are 15 min away from my house. So why not. New building is nice.
I found experience very good. SA was excellent to work with, I was able to speak directly to the techs to explain the problems.

I called around every dealer when I was ordering about $400 worth of parts and fluids for other maintenance. Trying to see if anybody would match Gaudin online prices. Nobody would match. Exchange said that they will but when I sent them the list - they went quiet and never gave me pricing. Motor Werks was 2x the price on price compared to other dealers.

So I ordered my parts from Gaudin and took them to my friend who is a BMW master tech of 30 years who has his own shop. Retired from one of the local bmw dealers couple years ago. He did all the fluids (Diffs, Trans, transfer case, power steering) , serp belt. We still need to do a coolant flush with the vacuum fill tool ( which by the way is used for v8 Bmw X5s).
He is in Algonquin. Lmk if you are interested and I will find out if he will work on another Cayenne. There is another Porsche shop in Woodstock which I heard good things about.
