Do all Cayennes use dummy keys in ignition?
My CTT is at the dealer getting some routine maintenance done so I ended up with a 2020 Macan as a loaner.
The key on the Macan is similar to my 2011 but I instead have to insert it into the ignition switch itself.
On my Cayenne there is a plastic insert in the ignition and I never have to use the key for anything as it senses when I need to open the door and again senses it in the vehicle allowing me to start it.
Did all Cayennes come this way or was this an option? I never even knew the key could fit in the ignition in the first place!

Funny. I don't have the E&D option on my Cayenne, but on all the new loaners, the dealer specs E&D.
So to answer your question, no, not all Cayennes use the dummy key. I'd even hazard a guess that most don't.

You can even buy a colored dummy key to put there, I have in mine thanks to a fellow Rennlister and use a guards red dummy key. Just for looks and I did search for one with Entry and Drive, something I wanted!

Thanks all!
I'm so used to it that each time I get in the Macan I get thrown off by the fact that I can't just turn the ignition on.
Strange thing is in my 911 I have to use the key and I have no problem with remembering to do it there. But for some reason I can't break myself out of the habit with the loaner.
If I ever upgrade to another P-car I'll make sure to look out for that option as I'm a fan of the convenience.
Well the Macan is going back to it's home later today so I'll have the CTT back!

We have an A6 and the GTS. Both of them you never take the key out of your pocket and its all auto.
Whenever I drive a company vehicle I will stand there yanking on the door handle wondering what is wrong with the car and why the door won't open....
