And unfortunately, the newer Porsches apparently are being plagued by battery issues in their new batteries. Dead batteries, possible parasitic drain. I don't think anybody knows what's going on.

I replaced mine because I wasn't sure how old it was. Apparently, my battery tester does not read correctly when you used on the jump start posts. Kind of annoying since there is no easy way to test on the battery itself. Anyone know if there is a way to run a load test through an OBD reader?

Had to replace my wife's Subaru and kids Nissan batteries this winter. we just a week of below 0 F weather. 4 yrs and 5yrs old respectfully. Still going strong on the 8 year old cayenne original battery! Although I think I will change it out this year just to be on safe side.
What brand is everyone using? Or does it matter? I put a Duracell from batteries/bulbs store in the Nissan. dealer did the Subaru so not sure what is in that. Battery store had the H8 and H9 Duracells on the shelf for around $200. Guy said they are popular Are Varta batteries available in the US?

2015 Targa 4S, late 2014 build - I have not replaced the battery & searching previous owners/dealers service records, see no indication it was previously changed. So, almost, another 10 year battery!
Car starts & runs fine. The voltage is running anywhere from 14-15.6 v.

I tend to be old school, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, but probably time to think about a new battery.

At least on the Cayenne, Voltage should drop in the 13s 10-15min orso into the drive. If it stays well into the 14s for an extended period of time, the battery is probably not holding a charge very well anymore.

Interesting. There seems to be a debate on whether you need to reprogram a new battery. Ive read on here that programming tells the ECU that a new battery is installed so it can adjust the way it charges. I dont know if that is true, but assuming so, I wonder if the rate-of-charge would drop to 13V without programming?

My new-to-me 16 cayenne base is showing >14V the entire time Im driving. I also know that the battery drops to 11.7V after sitting for a little bit (<1Hr)! I know that my other AGM battery on my Toyota with 14V charge rate will only go to 12.5V after sitting for a week and eventually 12V after couple weeks. Ill throw it on the Launch and see what it says. Ill probably replace it in preparation for the hot phoenix summer that kills batteries like the grim reaper!

That's a good question. I'm not entirely sure what the programming process entails. I'm guessing you enter the new battery specs? From my experience, the voltage typically reads in the lower 12s when not running. 11.7V after only an hour seems too low.

Just recently replaced my 2015 Cayenne's battery. Original battery and stamped 37th week of 2014. Probably would've made it past the 10 year mark, but I was starting to have my aftermarket amp boot into safe mode (low power) on the first startup in the mornings and audio cutting during auto stop/start so I elected to replace it even though the battery would probably still test in an acceptable range. No sense in pushing my luck!

New 105aH H9 AGM battery from NAPA, registered with my iCarSoft, and she's good for the next 10 years now I hope!

Like Rhino, I started getting so weird issues, although the car always fired right up. Recently changed an original battery and now all works perfect again.

Just replaced the original in my 2013 gts, was dated 10/12 if I remember. That's a pretty long time for a battery.

Been too lazy checking under the rug, but guessing i have an original battery in the 16 SEH.. getting random minor faults in OBD and about 11.7-8v when car is off. Ignition also shuts off after couple of mins stating «shut down low voltage» blabla.. something.

Pulled this now with the icarsoft, would you guys guess i need a new one? Try tender/recond first? Should be approx 8 years now..

I would guess you do, though I wouldn't be surprised if those icarsoft readings are regarding your hybrid battery not the 12V. Your starting voltage is around where mine was before replacing though. And just about every electrical quirk my vehicle has had since my ownership has gone away with the new battery, most notably my seat memory not going back to position, start/stop not being available even after driving on the highway charging the battery for 30+ minutes, amp cutting out on restart, stuff like that. Worth noting I never had any fault codes due to the battery, just things that were what I'd consider to be weird. All of that has gone away with the new battery.

Would guess its the 12v, hybrid system is in its own section.. But yeah, should probably just get a new one. See the batt manufacturers list both 95ah and 105. But im guessing the 105 is the way to go?
