2014 vs. 2016 Cayenne GTS Impressions - looking for first hand experience
I have been dead set on purchasing a 2014 GTS for a month or two now. Something about the styling and v-8 just have me fixed on this vehicle. I found one for my dad last month cpo from a dealer in Texas and he is loving it so far. We are retiring our 997,2 4s from winter duties this year and would like a cayenne gts. I've noticed that the 14s are becoming harder and harder to find, however there seems to be a good amount of '16s available. I really wanted the v-8, however i also like the idea of a car being two years newer. Anyone out there with some real world experience driving/owning both of these? I'd love to hear your input.

We ultimately chose a 2016 because we were able to get a spec we really liked with sport chrono, full leather, garnet and black interior, meteor gray with matching wheels ext, etc...but the 2014s sound waaaaaaay better and we looked at those also. We were just weighing the V8 vs. the updated exterior, and for us those sort of canceled each other out and we were open to either once we found the right one. I would have been happy with a 2014 and lived with the tail lights lol.

Having the same discussion here in our household. As much as I like the V8, my wife likes the looks of the '16+, so we're probably going to go with one of those instead since this will be her car. Curious about other folks' thoughts...

Very different driving experiences. The V8 is a raw vehicule, louder, harsher, a more engaging drive.
The V6 is a tamed down version, more comfortable and sedated. I like the 958.2 updated exterior better, but it’s nowhere near as fun to drive as the 958.1 GTS.

Oh come on, no cayenne is a raw vehicle. Lets not exaggerate now

This is just a slightly noisier and harder riding luxury suv. RAW? really, do we need to look at the definition of raw? My 25 year old 911 isn't raw...neither is a 958 gts.

since this is really interesting to me, maybe you can try to explain.
What is "raw" about the GTS?
The motor, the same one I have in my CS (save for a bit of tuning and the exhaust) is a smooth, generally quiet running, not particularly violent, and not particularly powerful engine.
The interior is cushy, luxurious, and full of sound deadening and comfort features
The suspension is stiffer than a standard cayenne, but beyond a bit of jarring over large bumps or potholes, its not a lotus.
The tranny is the same old 8 speed slushbox.
The exhaust is louder...but my car has secondary cat delete pipes and is not raw either. With the windows up, you barely hear the exhaust, gts or not.
Its a sportier SUV than say a base or CS and certainly more so than a chevy Tahoe, but sporty isn't really raw either.
so just help me understand, maybe i missed something.

I've driven a '16 'S' which isn't a GTS, but same ttV6 motor, and own a '13 GTS. The V8 is a lot more primal and engaging. The ttV6 is smooth and turbine like - the mid-range is great. They have totally different characters. I did over 1000 miles in the '16, and wouldn't describe it as a 'fun' vehicle, but very capable and efficient at going fast everywhere. The V8 I do consider fun, but it's mainly down to how the engine is tuned, that's it's a loud V8 (the gearing is lower on the GTS), and the handling is more buttoned down. I'm sure on a '16 GTS, the handling is probably as good if not better with a lighter motor upfront, but I never found the V8 lacking.
I prefer the rear of the .2 cars, and the front of the .1 cars, but really wanted the V8 so I'm thrilled with it. I don't think you can go wrong with either, it's just a personal choice.

I stand on my words, the 958.1 GTS is the sportiest and most driver-oriented SUV ever made by Porsche. In my book it’s raw, for an SUV of course.

I think that title goes to the Macan gts, but now I'm just being an ahole
