It wasn’t available in the US.
Drove one in Würzburg a few years ago. Very fun torque monster

Was trying to find how hard it would be to import one grey market but gave up and got a 14 cd instead

More 959's in the USA than Diesel S. I'd love to have a diesel S.

not positive but pretty sure this would fall under the
"Show or Display" rule in the states

& no 958's are on this list

Highly doubtful you'll see one.
VAG never certified a v8 TDI in the US. So you're not going to be able to just import a vehicle(and register it) without EPA/CARB compliance for fuel economy and emissions (and possibly DOT crash too). It's basically the 959 all over again.
You would have to wait it out for the 25-year rule.

Most likely option would to be buy a front clip and have some crazy person with a PIWIS swap it.
