Default Experiences with Fidelity Extended Warranties

Shopping extended warranties and I seem to have settled on the Fidelity Platinum. Car in question is a 958.2 GTS so I am looking to cover (among other issues) the air suspension components. Anyone have this warranty and any experiences with the warranty covering (or not covering) various issues with the car? I know wear items are excluded.

Also curious if anyone got the Gold versus the Platinum and found that to be adequate.

Thanks!

I'm one step behind you. I've got almost two years on my CPO coverage...as I get closer to the end of that coverage (and the 75K mileage point) I'll be looking to purchase a Fidelity warranty too. Probably Platimum, for the longest term I can find (I think four years)... Probably money well spent...it takes one significant issue to justify the cost of the warranty, and two puts you way ahead....

I know folks take different opinions on whether to get the warranty or skip it - I am firmly in the "get it" camp. It seems Fidelity is the most highly-regarded on here in terms of them honoring claims. So I am really trying to better understand if the Platinum is the way to go or if Gold is acceptable.

According to a recent quote, 4 year platinum runs $10K, versus 4 year gold at $5800. Three year is $7600 versus $4500.

These are round numbers, based on the mileage on my CS. Your numbers will be different...but the range will be similar. Is the coverage of Platinum worth an extra $1K a year? I'd have to re-read the coverage closely...$10K is a lot for an extended warranty on a car that will be worth $28-$30K in two years...on the other hand I intend to just keep driving it...

Numbers I'm seeing for my application are $6400 vs. $4500 for maximum coverage (60K miles / 5 years additional). The car in question still has a little bit of factory warranty left.

That would be a no brainer for me. Go platinum.

I bought a 4 year/60k Fidelity Gold shortly after I got my Cayenne in early 2019. My CS had ~55k when I bought it, it's at roughly 80k now. I originally bought it due to the known transfer case issues (which Gold specifically covers) but then Porsche went and extended the TC warranty afterwards. ;-)

The warranty relatively recently paid for itself (and then some) when significant oil leaks were found, and they covered replacement of the oil pan gasket, timing cover and valve cover and associated gaskets. With all this "reseal" work done, I'm hoping the motor will be good for some time to come.

How much was your Gold coverage? What's the deductible?

Cost was approx. $4200 back in 2019. I went with high deductible ($500) to keep cost lower. Have only had to use it once, but as mentioned above, it's paid for itself with that one large repair.

I can tell you from a dealer buddy that they are allowed to mark up the actual fidelity price by anywhere from 0-100%. seriously. So shop the fidelity coverage and ask them what their markup is. i.e. if they remit $5,000 to fidelity they can charge you anywhere up to $10,000.

If you search the forum there is a dealer who does it for 5% for rennlist members.

Yes, I got mine from the guy listed 1st in this thread (who I think is the guy referenced above) on Fidelity Platinum warranty sellers - The Fidelity Platinum Megathread - Rennlist - Porsche Discussion Forums

Also got a quote for an Axiom "Platinum" (their version of exclusionary coverage) via the selling dealer (Paul Miller Porsche). The quote was about 30% less than the Fidelity quote. Anyone have experiences with Axiom?

No personal experience.

However, the threads on the BBB.org site are pretty entertaining...

TLR I wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole.
