Default Tires Deaminating? Suggestions Please

Tire pressure warning, screw in left rear tire. The tire shop where I went to get the hole patched showed me that the tires are de-laminating. They are the original Goodyear Eagles. My 2015 CD has 37,000 miles, and they do have tread left. Why would the tires be delaminating?

Suggestions on replacements. I have choices - Original wheels are the 18 inch. I also have a set of 19 inch Cayenne II wheels. Suggestions for 18's and 19's as well. Keep in mind that it's a diesel and not a Turbo or GTS.

Thanks for all and any suggestions.

Don, the strange thing is that I probably over inflate....I run 38 front and 42 rear. Any tires you like for a non Turbo and non GTS?

You are lucky your GoodYears lasted that long. I changed my orriginal GoodYears at two years bc of the issue you mentioned and I always kept the pressure in comfort mode. I have changed to Pirellis and have been happy with them. You don’t need the N0 spec Pirellis

Glad to know it's not just me. I've never been a Goodyear fan. What is a "NO spec Pirelli"?

They are six years old, so I wouldn't bother fixing and just get a new set.

They all have delamination on the outer section of the tire. No delamination on the flat section, but I am replacing them no matter what. I just need to find a good tire. I want decent handling, good rain traction, comfort, and last a reasonable amount of miles.

I got rid of my Goodyears after 10k miles, Noisy, handled crappy. Best tire I've had so far on my Cayenne are the Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 2. Have over 20k on them, much of that towing and still have 6/32 left. they still handle well and are very quiet. I've never bought the same tire twice on any vehicle but I might stick with them again.

Continental CrossContact LX Sport, N0 spec. I am on my 3rd set and I normally avoid Continental's. Love them.

Default Conti DWS

Was very pleased with the performance of the Continental DWS-06. Even wear, plenty of stick on back roads, much more durable than Pirelli Scorpion, and would get us to the ski hill and back in winter.

I have DWS-06 as well. Can't speak for the longevity yet but with 560 treadwear, I would imagine you'll get plenty of mileage out of them. I only have dry experience with them so far and they have plenty of grip for spirited driving and seem quiet on the fwy.

Your tires are 7 years old and all kinds of things happen to this age of tire..

I've used the DWS-06 Plus a few times (have them on my Boxster now had them on my '06 Cayenne S) - good tire. The '11 CTT got 295/35ZR-21 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ 6-Rib. Super nice good handling and riding tire. They are a tad pricey though..

I have the DWS06 on the Q7, and they are a very good tire.

I just put a set of the Goodyear Exhilirate tires on the CS, we'll see how they do. Too early for any real first impressions... Tread ratings and cost are similar...

N0, N1 etc means Porsche tested and aproved tires (it will show on the sidewall of the tire). In 958.1 CD, if 19,” they are mainly GoodYear, Pirelli and Michelin. But really, this is a daily SUV, so it does not matter at all in my opinion. Just get the general spec one (the N tires are generally more expensive). In a sports car, maybe, because Porsche test raced them
