Default Oil Collection for Analysis - 958

Hi gang-

I am interested in collecting some engine oil to send in for analysis. I was provided with a pump and plastic tube. Obviously I don't have a dipstick tube leading to an oil pan, but I am wondering if I could still collect a decent quantity of oil by snaking the tube into the provided port for adding oil.

Thoughts?

You should probably ask the lab...they're pretty specific about how to gather a sample...

That having been said, I'd be concerned about getting a representative sample using that methodology... you want oil that's experienced agitation...

I agree with that and that is why I am wondering where I would collect it from if I DID just stick a tube down there.. If I got any oil I don't know where it would be "from" because I don't know what passage ways go where.

Well...I don't think you will find any measurable amount of oil on the top of the engine, and you won't be able to snake a tube down a passage to find some. (probably should have said this in my first response!)

Patience...wait until your next oil change....

Wait until next oil change and grab your sample midway through draining.
