Default New Installation: Sport Chrono Clock and Android Head Unit

Installed a sport chrono clock and 12.3” Android head unit. All functioning well, smooth purchase and simple DIY. Replaced the OEM dual microphones with dual lavalier microphones in same OEM location. Replaced OEM rear camera with HD camera.

Damn, looks great. Which head unit is that?
Also, where'd you source the sport chrono from? Dealer?

Thanks. Really enjoying the functionality. Too many available apps…not enough time. Purchased the clock, head unit and rear camera though AliExpress. The lavalier microphones were purchased from Amazon.

Here is a side view. Re-channeled venting works.

pretty neat install. hope you enjoy it. Definitely a way to modernize the interior, if a bit tacked on (although not really any worse than many newer cars straight from the factory).

Wow, this is pretty cool. Could you share direct link to the device? And more detail on the install?

Thanks. There were several styles to choose from. Elected to place one that was more horizontal and had a similar design as the 9YA. Initial unpacking thoughts that 12.3” may be too large, but post install it integrates well.

Not affiliated with any products of sellers, here is the link: C$ 923.13 50% Off | IPS 12.3"360 Panoramic Camera Carplay 6G+128G Android 11.0 Car DVD Player GPS WIFI Stereo Radio For Porsche Cayenne 2011-2017

There are several resellers in AliExpress that sell the same unit at varying prices. Most likely manufactured at the one factory and sold by multiple sellers. This was a reasonably priced one.

Installation was pretty basic. Never completed this type of conversion, difficulty 2 out of 5. There are plenty of resources on line in connection with removal and installation of the Sport Chrono Clock and head unit. These processes were simple and took less than .5 hours to remove both. Was not intending to add the clock initially, but since the PCM and vents were being extract, proceeded with the clock.

The clock installation was extremely simple. Connect new harness to OEM harness, fish other smaller wiring and connector through the to top of the dash and plug into the clock and snap to place the new panel with the clock. If there is a leather dash, be very careful not to scratch with panel.

Have to extract to vents and PCM for the clock install Considering that the vents had to be removed to access the PCM, this was again very simple to do, many videos on how to.

Now that the vents and the PCM are out, the new head unit comes with a harness. Connect this harness to the new clock harness or OEM harness if not placing a new clock.

The harness connections to the new head unit are fool proof as they are all different of pin outs and will only plug in to their unique male pin assembly.

Basically, plug and play. The only wire splicing require is for the MOST fibre optic converter. This unit needs a constant 12v, accessory 12v and ground. Spliced the three wires to the CANBus steering wheel control module that comes with the package. Some other Android units have the MOST converter built in so all is required is to relocate the two fiber optic lines to the head unit without splicing. 15 minutes to splice and relocate the fiber optic.

Purchased and installed a GPS conversion cable to use OEM GPS antenna $5.00 and works great. New unit comes with one, but went OEM direction.

For the new AHD backup camera, have to remove the inner tailgate panel, remove old camera, splice new camera with handle to OEM video and power wiring. Also a bit of rewiring for the handle actuator. Very simple process.

More pictures.
