Default Tailgate detect obstacle that does not exist

Good morning

On my 2014 Cayenne S diesel the tailgate will move just about 10cm then beep and stop, this is from any position while opening or closing.
I suspect a fault with the object detection sensors/system but do not know where to find it?

There is no problem with the battery and just to make sure I did leave it on a charger over night but its still the same this morning.
I will appreciate any advice?

I dont think there is a detection sensor but rather the motors see increased amp draw and stop moving. Im no expert but i would think your hatch struts may need to be replaced. Mine would stop opening several times during a cycle and i finally just replaced the struts and its been fine

Thanks, I just do not understand why it would then also stop on its way down, when gravity is helping it?

I think it might use the pdc sensors?
It did previously stop halfway it I was standing to close to the car when opening, if I moved away it worked fine. Might have been coincidence?

Interwsting as ive not experienced that. Do you have any issues with your park distance sensors?

Unfortunately not the easiest to diagnose

well unfortunately I can't think of anything else, so you may need a shop to try to run codes. When my struts were failing, one of them would throw an open circuit fault. Might be worth looking for the same.

Silly question. Does it happen all of the time or some of the time? Do you have the Porsche Enter & Drive? My tailgate will go down some if I hit the lock button and the key is in the car (a good thing), but when it first started happening, I had no idea what was going on. This only happens when going down, not up, so likely is not related to your problem but figured I would mention it.

It was all the time, I decided to go talk to my local dealership yesterday and when I got there it suddenly worked again?
They tell me the lock might be the problem, if it does not latch or unlatch properly it can stop the lift mechanism. They suggested lubricating the lock.

Will see what happen in the next couple of days.
Thanks for all your input.

(No I do not have enter and drive in this car).

Have you reset the end points?

Pull the codes, I bet at least one of the struts is throwing.
