Hi, my otherwise very nice and reliable 2012 Cayenne Turbo has let me down. Yesterday cruising on the freeway it developed a louder and louder whistle, and the boost dropped to .1 bar.

i tried to find a boost leak, and I feel the turbo inlet pipe is maybe a little loose. But is that on the pressure side? It is the pipe coming from the front right of the engine.

I have read about the diverter valves, but do they really make this whistling noise?

any help would be very appreciated.

If you're heading whistling, yes that's a boost leak. Start taking panels off and tracing the pipe work. ANY loose joint will cause a failure.

Thanks, yes I guess I have to start.

It would be great to know if the diverter valves make a sound when broken….

Forgot to mention that I tuned it a while ago which I am sure it have added more stress on the piping.

I dug into it today and it looks like the right turbo is gone… metal shavings all over the intake😬😢

Then that ain't making a whistle noise then.... I've had turbos fail, and that's a pretty specific metallic grinding noise...
